William C. Jones, Jr.

October 16, 1926 ~ April 19, 2019 (age 92)

William Clarence Jones, Jr. 92, formerly of Orlando, FL, recently moved to Clermont, FL, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2019. William was born in Lumberton, NC to his parents William and Marion Jones on October 16, 1926. William was the oldest of 6 children and the only son. William was known to many as "Pete", "Bill", "Billy" and "Jonesy".

William joined the service at the early age of 17 and served in the US Army, Coast Guard and Air Force and served in World War II. Shortly after he finished the service he started working at AT&T in Charlotte, NC. William transferred to the Greensboro, NC branch, where he met his future wife Nancy York in 1952. William and Nancy were married on December 24, 1953. With both working at AT&T, William and Nancy were transferred together to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands for 5 years and then to Orlando, FL where their only daughter, Deborah Lynn was born. William retired in 1985 from AT&T after 34 years of service. Shortly afterwards, William became a realtor, Momery Realty and Abcire Realty. William and Nancy lived in Englewood Park for over 44 years until recently where they relocated in Clermont, FL to be near family.

William was a member of various affiliations. In Greensboro, NC he was a member of Tall Cedars of Lebanon, The Masonic Lodge, Corinthian #542 and The Order of The Eastern Star #379, which he served as a president at one time. When William and Nancy moved to Orlando, FL, William went on to be affiliated with others. He was a Shriner with the Bahia Shrine, American Legion, VFW #4286, Fraternal Order of Police, Moose Lodge and The Fraternal Order of Eagles #3496 where he served as Vice President and President. William was also on the Ritual Team.

Other than his passion for his clubs, William also had a passion for fishing. He has 3 prize possession fish that are still on the wall, a Barracuda, a Maui and a Sailfish. His love for fishing went on to his daughter and his 2 grandsons, Alan Michael "Mikey" and Ryan William "Billy". William also loved getting together with his buddies at the club playing poker weekly.

William was a very generous man to many, loved his family and was so very proud of his 2 grandsons and his first great grandson, Alan Michael Archer, Jr.

William is survived by his wife Nancy of 66 years, daughter Deb Archer (husband Roy). His 2 grandsons, Ryan Archer and Alan Archer (wife Makenzie), his great grandson, Alan Michael Archer, Jr and sister Marie Hodges. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Marion Jones, sisters, Kathleen Keith, Margaret Solesbee, Bobbie Bishop and Florence Jean Jones.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 25, 2019 11AM in the Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Gotha, FL. Visitation for family and friends will be held 1 hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
