Allie Jones

Allie Singletary Jones, 89, of Orlando, died November 16, 2014. She was the wife of the late, Dr. James R. Jones, Jr. Allie was born in Cross, SC, on April 9, 1925 to Rennie Middleton Singletary and Williewiete Godfrey Singletary. In 1947, she graduated from the Barrett School of Nursing at University Hospital in Augusta, GA. She moved to Orlando in 1955. Allie was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Bonnie Blue Chapter 2329. She was also involved with the AFS program working with high school foreign exchange students. Silvio Toledo Piza, an exchange student from Brazil, lived with the Jones family during 197071. Allie always remained close to her Brazilian son. Allie is survived by her children: Rick Jones of Indianapolis, IN Allie DeeDee Myers of Orlando, FL and Sue Jones of Laramie, WY. She was preceded in death by her son Greg Jones. She is also survived by her brother, Farrell Singletary of Pinopolis, SC six grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren. A viewing will be held at Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home, 2811 Curry Ford Road, Orlando, Fl., on Friday, November 21, from 4pm6pm, with service to take place on Saturday, 1pm at First U.M.C. Interment to follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park, Winter Park, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the First U.M.C., 142 E. Jackson Street, Orlando, FL. 32801. Arrangements entrusted to Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home, 4078982561.
