Sanford, Florida - Mrs. Barbara May (Brown) Sikora, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, died on September 1, 2023 at AdventHealth Hospice Care of Altamonte Springs. Mrs. Sikora was born in St. Louis, MO to the late Walter E. & Bertha Siems Brown.

Mrs. Sikora was a Seaman Apprentice at the 11th Naval District Headquarters prior to being set up on a date with her future beloved husband, Capt. Edward Sikora. They married on 5/29/1952 and raised 5 wonderful children.

At the age of 53, Mrs. Sikora graduated from the Nursing Program at Gordon (Junior) College in Barnesville, GA and launched her career as an R.N. at Monroe County Hospital in Forsyth, GA, continuing at The Seventh Day Adventist Hospital in Altamonte Springs, FL and lastly, at Heartland Hospice in Macon, GA, finally retiring at the young age of 79!

Upon retirement, Mrs. Sikora put her lifelong love of sewing & knitting to work for The Linus Project and Yarn With a Mission, sewing thousands of baby blankets and knitting thousands of baby caps for NICU infants nationwide. Mrs. Sikora adored spending time with (and money on) her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving children, Maureen Sikora of Deland, FL, Colleen Gordon of Orlando, Edward A. Sikora of Merritt Island, FL, Kathleen (Kathy) Sikora of Sanford, FL and Laureen (Laurie) Sikora of Macon, GA; grandchildren, Dr. Theresa Greer, Angel Kallini, Mary Chambers, Sabrina Sikora Dommenge, Saraya Sikora and Adam Sikora; great-grandchildren, Jillian Kindy Gilkison, Lexi Kindy, Adam Easton Dommenge, Eivor May Dommenge, Barbara Kallini, Penelope Kallini, Ella Chambers & Landon Chambers.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 18 at 11:00 a.m. at Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home on Curry Ford Road, Orlando, FL.
