Beverly W. McAlhaney, age 75, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026 in Orlando, Florida. Beverly was born on June 13, 1950 in Warren, Ohio to Allan Jay Wise and Savel Wise. Raised in a military family, she moved often during her childhood, but the family finally settled in Orlando in 1964. Beverly graduated from Oakridge High School and attended University of Florida earning a bachelor’s degree in teaching. Beverly met her husband of over 50 years, Hardee McAlhaney, while living in Gainesville. They raised both of their daughters primarily in Orlando.
Beverly was a dedicated elementary school teacher for over 30 years. She received Teacher of the Year at Pershing Elementary in 1997 and was loved by her colleagues and students. Rarely missing a day of work, Beverly always put her students first and was truly passionate about her job. Following her retirement, Beverly continued to volunteer at Pershing Elementary and received the Outstanding Senior Volunteer Award for the 2018-2019 school year.
Outside of teaching, Beverly had many talents. She was a skilled seamstress and often took on home projects. She was truly a “go-getter” and had an energetic and outgoing personality. Beverly was also a devoted grandmother to her only grandchild, Ava, who brought her much joy and happiness in her later years. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Beverly is survived by her husband, Hardee McAlhaney, her daughters, Emily Konicek (Chris) and Abby McAlhaney, granddaughter, Ava Konicek, and her brothers, Sid Wise and Roger Wise. She was preceded in death by her parents, Allan and Savel Wise, and her brother, Allan Jay Wise, Jr.
A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church, 142 E. Jackson Street, Orlando, Florida 32801 on May 8, 2026 at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at donorservices.alz.org.
