Debbie Givoglu, age 91, of Orlando, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022. Debbie was born April 17, 1930, in Veronia, Greece, to the late John and Martha (Rafael) Theodore.
She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Jay Theodore, brother Anesti Theodore, and her beautiful and beloved daughter Gail Givoglu. She is survived by her husband John, her brother Bobby Theodorides, sister Elaine Tsirimbides, son Bob, daughter-in-law Wendy, grandson John, and many nieces and nephews. Debbie was also a treasured YiaYia to many of her cousins’ children near and far.
Aside from being a loving wife and mother, Debbie made a career out of working as a seamstress in numerous department stores in Cleveland, Ohio, and Orlando, Florida. An excellent cook, she also was the heart and soul of many family restaurants in Orlando, Florida, including Maryland Fried Chicken and Theo’s Kitchen, and was the inspiration for her children’s award winning restaurant, Mediterranean Blue. Debbie was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox church, and was much loved by many friends there and in the larger Greek community. Debbie was known for always trying to feed you her delicious food and always making people feel welcome and accepted. Her smile, generous and genuine spirit, sweet personality, sense of humor, and strength will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
A viewing for Debbie will be held Saturday, February 19, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1217 Trinity Woods Lane, Maitland, Florida 32751. A funeral service will follow from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A committal service will be at 12:00 PM at Greenwood Cemetary, 1603 Greenwood Street, Orlando, Florida 32801. In lieu of flowers, the family has graciously requested that donations be made in memory of Debbie Givoglu to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church Maitland, FL.
