Obituary

After 96 remarkable years, we are saddened to announce the passing of Deosarran Mangru, also known as Ramjas, of No. 19 Village, Berbice, Guyana, whose generous spirit touched countless lives. Ramjas passed peacefully surrounded by family on July 3, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness.

Ramjas was the son of the late Sahadeo and Mangru and was born on June 5, 1930. Ramjas had four siblings - Lall, Das, Beeno, and Jago. He was married to the late Budya, also known as Doodoogyal, and together they had seven beautiful children together. Including their spouses they were Pyree and Edo, Blacko and Jean, Shano and Rajpaul, Lelia and Christo, Totaram and Rose, and his late daughters Bee and Davika.

His eleven grandchildren were the light of his later years, each receiving his undivided attention and wisdom. His grandchildren along with their spouses were Kalam and Rashma, the late Zamo, Neisha, Nafeeza and Mahase, the late Bado, Ramanan and Christine, Maria, Vanessa and Joseph, Andy and Alisha, Stephanie and Andrew, and Mark and Sasha.

His great grandchildren were Latesha, Sunita, Sabrina, Shaun, Emma, Brandan, Nicholas, Kavita, Angelina, Mason, Grayson, Emilia, and Max and his great great grandchildren were Ahkil, Raj, and Tanisha.

Ramjas was loved by so many and will be greatly missed. He will forever hold a special place in all of our hearts.
