If you are planning to attend, her favorite color was pink, and she loved florals and animal prints. The family would enjoy seeing everyone celebrate her by wearing something she would have loved.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Dorothy's name to the First Baptist Church of Orlando Pregnancy Center.
Dorothy grew up in New England and shared many wonderful memories of her life there and the beauty of that area.
She loved her country and many of the men in her family were in the military, including both of her husbands. She remembered the days in her youth during and following World War II. She would talk about how everyone pulled together and sacrificed a great deal to get through those difficult times. This made her careful with her money, but she was also very generous.
In High School, she was a Drum Major, a cheerleader, and played several sports. She continued her love of these things as she attended her children and grandchildren's sporting or music events. She was so proud of all their accomplishments.
She loved her family and served them amazingly for the entirety of her life. She took pride in having a home that was cozy and welcoming (but not large or fancy) to everyone and she made everyone feel comfortable when they visited. She cooked thousands of meals over the years and most holiday celebrations were at her home (and dessert was always available.) She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother!
She also loved her Lord and spoke of His goodness until her last day on Earth.
She enjoyed gardening and always had fresh-cut flowers in her home. She looked forward to watching the birds outside her window and enjoyed sitting on her back porch in the cool of the day.
She also loved spending time with people and continually asked them questions about their life so she could get to know them more. Everyone felt special in her presence. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
