Elizabeth Pearl Helton “Betty”

Elizabeth Pearl Helton “Betty” 81, of Orlando, FL peacefully passed away on March 5, 2024 surrounded by family and friends. 

Betty was born on January 22, 1943 to Pearl A. Barr and James Skelly in Gabriella, FL, but step-father Bruce “Smokey” Owen was her “Dad”.

Betty was predeceased by her ex-husband Homer Helton, beloved eldest daughter Pamela Helton, parents Pearl and Bruce Owen, and brother Richard “Jim” Skelly. 

She is survived by daughter Cynthia A. and husband Dean A. Lang, son Douglas P. and wife Alicia Helton, brothers Russel Skelly and Frank Owen, all her “favorite” grandchildren: Terra Miller, Scott Lang, April Ramirez, Ashley Hughan, Bret Lang, Adam Lang, and Kayla Helton and many great-grandchildren and close friends who she loved like family. 

Betty will always be remembered for the love she had for her family and friends - each one was so special to her.  That love, and her smile will never be forgotten.  

She worked hard all her life and never (ok rarely!) complained - instead was grateful and proud to be able to provide for herself and her family. 

Please remember Betty with joy for the life she lived - not with sadness for her passing.  

Services will be held at Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 12 noon where we invite friends and family to come Celebrate Betty’s life.  

There will be an opportunity during the service and afterward at a post-service reception for attendees to share a memory or special story of time spent with Betty.
