Elizabeth Norris

January 1, 1932 — November 13, 2025

Elizabeth Moss Norris, 93, went home to be with the Lord on November 13, 2025. She passed peacefully surrounded by her family. Elizabeth was born on New Year’s Day 1932 in Danburg, Georgia, the eighth of ten children. She grew up in small farming communities of Wilkes County, Georgia during the difficult years of the Great Depression and WWII. She gave her life to Christ as a child at Danburg Baptist Church and lived her faith the rest of her life. After graduating high school, she worked in the tax office of Washington, Georgia. There she met and married LeRoy Norris, and they remained married for 67 years until his passing. The couple relocated to Orlando, Florida in the 1950s. They attended Holden Heights Baptist Church initially before moving to Delaney Street Baptist Church where they were lifelong members. At Delaney Street she lovingly taught children’s Sunday School classes and assisted in day-care programs for many years. Elizabeth was dedicated to her growing family. She attended every possible school event, award ceremony, piano and dance recital, band and chorus performance for her children and grandchildren. In addition, she helped her children in Brownies, Girl Scouts, and Boy Scouts. Her kitchen was always open, and she made sure everyone was well fed. Elizabeth was a natural chef who cooked without recipes and her Southern style food was enjoyed by all. She loved to sew. Accompanied by a tomato-shaped pin cushion, she spent many evenings designing and sewing costumes, clothing and elegant dresses, and an assortment of other novelties. Everyone who knew Elizabeth remember her warmth, love, and compassion.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her loving husband LeRoy, and cherished son, Roy, and eight of her siblings. She is survived by children Gary (Sue) Norris, Lisa Norris Harman, Nancy (Joel) Huffman, and Bruce Norris; sister Christine “Teeny” Moss; grandchildren Lauren (Chris) Ciocca, Bridgette (Tyler) Maschinot, Sarah (Jacob) LaFortune, Rachel Watson, Natalie Layne; and great-grandchildren Leo and Elizabeth Ciocca, and Tanner and Henry LaFortune.
