Mrs. Geneva Faye Kleinik Mohrbacher passed away on February 3, 2022 at her home in Jacksonville, Florida at the age of 92. She was born on October 10, 1929 north of Mulberry Grove, Illinois to the late Walter and Ruth Hoyle Kleinik. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Dale, Gale, Berthal (Bert) and Norman. She has two remaining brothers, Mervin of Mulberry Grove, Illinois and Elmer of Ravenna, Michigan. Their mother Ruth passed away in 1938 from typhoid fever, and the children's ages ranged from four months to eleven years. Their father Walter was married several years later to Mabel Elam Kirkman, and they had a daughter, Barbara Ann (Spencer). Geneva's half sister lives in Four Oaks, North Carolina. Geneva also leaves behind a step-grandson David Darling, who lives in Orlando, Florida.
Geneva attended several one room school houses but graduated from Neathery Elementary School in 1944, Mulberry Grove High School in 1948, and Greenville University in 1953 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She taught school for 36 years in the Business Education Department, with nine of those years in Illinois, and the remaining 27 years in Orlando, Florida, where she relocated in 1961. In 1975, Geneva married Elmer E. Mohrbacher, to whom she was married for 40 years before his passing in July, 2015. In July of 2017, she moved from Orlando to Jacksonville to be near her family of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be handled by Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home, 2811 Curry Ford Road, Orlando, FL 32806. Visitation will be at the funeral home's chapel at 1PM Saturday, February 12, 2022, followed by the funeral service at 2PM. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, which is off Mills Avenue in Orlando, Florida. In lieu of flowers, make your donations to the Jim Cumming's Memorial Fund to help send children and young people to summer church camps and mission trips.
