Jane Newsom Beaty

Jane Reid Newsom Beaty of Orlando, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024. She was born in Mobile, Alabama, on January 9, 1940, to the late John Branch and Kathryn Genevieve Blanchaine Newsom. The family moved to Orlando in 1945 and Jane lived at 1401 Lancaster Drive while attending Kaley Elementary, Cherokee Jr. High, and Boone High Schools. Graduating from Boone in 1957 she left for Florida State University. It was here where she met Larry Hedrick Beaty. Upon her graduation from FSU in August they were married in her parent's home on September 3, 1960. They lived a blessed 53 years together, most of it in their home on Mills Avenue just a few blocks from where she grew up in Lancaster Park. Larry predeceased her in 2013. In 2016 she moved to Orlando Lutheran Towers where she resided until her passing. After graduating from college Jane worked at Martin Marietta as an associate engineer on the Pershing missile project. She enjoyed and strongly believed volunteers make a difference in all segments of life. She especially enjoyed her many years of service in various positions in the Jr. League of Greater Orlando. Jane was also a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority, Colonial Dames of America, Daughters of the American Revolution and The Rosalind Club. At the Cathedral Church of St. Luke, Episcopal, she was a member of the Altar Guild, served as chairman of St. Mary's Guild from 1988 to 2008, a member of the Yergey Library Board, and served on the Chapter, but her greatest love in the church was serving as a sub-deacon at the altar. The most important thing to Jane was spending time with her family both in Orlando and at their condo in New Smyrna Beach. She is survived by and was a devoted mother to her two children Clinton Branch Beaty and his wife M. K. and Kathryn Elizabeth Beaty Cameron and her husband Cannon. She considered M. K. And Cannon to be her children and often told people she had four children. She was an adoring Granmom to her four grandchildren, Cooper Branch Beaty (Leanne) Conner Beaty McCann (Steven) and Caroline Reid and Claire Elizabeth Cameron, and Great-Granmom to Maverick Francis McCann. Jane is also survived by her sister Judy N. Gordon, and 6 nieces and 6 nephews. Jane's brother, John Branch Newsom, Jr. predeceased her in 2017. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 2:30PM in the Chapel at Orlando Lutheran Towers. There will be light refreshments following the service in the narthex of the Chapel.
