John Cox

John Arthur Cox, 83, was welcomed into heaven on November 8, 2025. Born in Philippi, West Virginia, on January 31, 1942, John was the beloved son of Carolyn Proudfoot Cox and William (Bill) Arthur Cox. He was a devoted big brother to his two sisters, Nancy Cashio (Frank) and the late Linda Burns (Ted).

When John was in elementary school, the Cox family loaded up the station wagon and moved to Central Florida. He attended Boone High School, where he excelled in baseball as a catcher and led the county in batting. After graduating from Boone in 1959, John attended the University of Florida, where he studied finance and was a proud member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. It was there he met the love of his life, Constance (Connie) Beh Schroeder, an ATO Little Sister. John and Connie began their marriage of 62 years in Gainesville, Florida.

Following graduation, John and Connie made their home in Winter Park, Florida, where he launched a distinguished career in corporate risk management. He began at Merrill Lynch, training in commodities, and went on to work at several prominent firms: Dean Witter in the 1970s, Paine Webber in the 1980s (later acquired by UBS), and Moors & Cabot in 2009. Over his 60-year career helping clients manage commodity risk, John became a trusted authority on all things orange juice. He served for decades on various exchange committees and was appointed Chairman of the Board of Citrus Advisors for the New York Cotton Exchange (NYCE) in 2000, overseeing the orange juice futures contract during bi-monthly meetings in New York.

John was consistently a top producer at his firms and enjoyed traveling with Connie on award trips around the world. His professional success was secondary to his greatest joy—his family. He was the proud father of Connie Ann and John Jr., and the adored grandfather (Gpa) of Kendall and Camden, children of John Jr. and his wife, Kara Fulford Cox. Gpa taught his children and grandchildren to love the Florida Gators. A Gator Booster for over 50 years, he spent countless hours watching and talking about Gator sports.

An avid outdoorsman, John enjoyed deer and turkey hunting with his son and bird hunting with clients who became lifelong friends. He had a passion for fishing and boating, cherishing time on the No Limit, and at his home in the Bahamas, Beyond Reach. John knew every “honey hole” for lobster and grouper, delighting in sharing the secrets of the Abaco Islands with family and friends. He was also an enthusiastic golfer, spending many happy years playing at The Country Club of Orlando and Grandfather Golf & Country Club. Some of his most treasured moments were those spent with family and friends in the mountains of North Carolina.

John served as President of The Country Club of Orlando and President of The University Club, where he could best his son in racquetball with either hand.

John lived a full, faith-filled life defined by love, loyalty, and laughter. Ever the gentleman, he carried himself with integrity and humility. His wisdom, generosity, and warm smile will be remembered by all who knew him.

Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Monday, November 24, 2025 at 3:00 pm at All Saints Episcopal Church in Winter Park, Florida. Reception to follow in the Mary Martha Parlor at All Saints.
