Leona Drogan

March 29, 1922 — November 18, 2017

Leona Antoinette Drogan was called home on Saturday, Nov 18, 2017 at the age of 95. She was born in Duryea, Pennsylvania on March 22, 1929. Her parents were Andrew and Josephine Kruczko. She moved from Duryea to Manville, New Jersey and completed her final year of high school in Manville. She met her future husband, Frank, who was in the Navy, in Manville, while he was on furlough, and married him later, on Nov 3, 1945. After marriage, she and Frank moved from Manville as the Navy directed, until he retired in New York in 1955 after serving for 20 years. Their military travels together included various places in Florida, Panama, Rhode Island, and Long Island, New York.

Leona worked briefly as her children grew older, but her passion was volunteering for the Catholic Church wherever she lived. She was an active member of St. James Catholic Church since living in Orlando, Florida. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening and following the Florida Gator football and basketball teams.

Leona is survived by her son, Raymond and his wife, Linda, and four grandchildren: Keith and Rachel Drogan, and her deceased daughter Carol's two children: Heather Augustine and Tariq Malik. Heather and her husband, Brian, blessed her with two great grandchildren: Patrick and Diana. Tariq and his wife, Christina, blessed her with an additional great grandson, Amar.

As Leona aged, she had many kind, helpful neighbors in Orlando and at Baptist Terrace. She truly appreciated their help and friendship over her years in Orlando-especially after her husband Frank, passed away in 1996.

Leona's viewing will be held at the Colonial/Carey Hand Funeral Home (407 898-2561) at 2811 Curry Ford Road in Orlando, Florida on Friday, November 24th at 2pm for family, and 3-5 pm for friends. The funeral service will be held in downtown Orlando, Florida at St. James Cathedral (in the Chapel) on Saturday, 25 November at 1pm. Her burial service will be performed immediately after, at the Greenwood Cemetery on Greenwood Street in Orlando.
