In Loving Memory of Luz Maria Melendez (née Millan)

Luz Maria Melendez, born Luz Maria Millan on April 30, 1938, in Ponce, lived a life rooted in love, faith, and devotion to family. She was the cherished daughter of Francisco Millan and Maria Mercedes Lespier, whose guidance and values shaped the compassionate and resilient woman she became.

On January 14, 1961, Luz Maria married the love of her life, Raimundo Melendez, in New York. Together they built a beautiful life grounded in commitment and shared faith, remaining devoted to one another for more than six decades until his passing on June 14, 2024, in Deltona. Their enduring marriage was a testament to unconditional love, patience, and partnership.

Luz Maria was a woman of strong Christian faith. Her relationship with God was a guiding light throughout her life, providing her with strength in difficult times and gratitude in joyful ones. She carried her faith quietly but firmly, reflecting it through her kindness, forgiveness, and unwavering love for her family. Her trust in the Lord gave her peace and shaped the values she instilled in her children and grandchildren.

She was a devoted mother to her daughters, Jeanette Melendez and Elisa Melendez, and her son, Alan Melendez. Her greatest pride and joy was her family. She was a loving grandmother to Natalie Melendez, Alex Chapman, Omar Alejandro Rivera, and Ian Benitez, cherishing each of them deeply and celebrating their lives with constant encouragement and affection.

In her earlier years, Luz Maria expressed her creativity through beautiful ceramic pieces and intricate macramé work, crafting with patience and care. At home, she enjoyed watching her favorite telenovelas, following each story with interest and heartfelt emotion. She also showed her love through cooking delicious meals that brought everyone together - meals filled with flavor, tradition, and warmth.

She held a special place in her heart for her beloved girl chihuahua, Chispa, whose companionship brought her comfort and happiness. The gentle bond they shared reflected Luz Maria's nurturing and tender spirit.

Luz Maria will be remembered for her warmth, creativity, steadfast faith, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. Her home was a sanctuary of comfort, her table a place of gathering, and her life a beautiful example of faith in action. Though she is deeply missed, her love and her faith-filled legacy will continue to guide her family for generations to come.
