Obituary

M. James McNeill, a man who lived life to the fullest with a spirit as adventurous as his heart, passed away on February 5, 2020, at the age of 78. Born and raised in sunny Orlando, Florida, James had a knack for seizing every moment with a twinkle in his eye and a smile on his face.

With a passion for entrepreneurship, James founded his own Commercial insurance and bonding agency, a venture that allowed him to traverse the globe and experience the wonders it had to offer. From the majestic landscapes of Australia to the rugged beauty of Wyoming, James found solace and joy in every corner of the world.

An aviator at heart, James adored aircraft and even obtained his pilot's license. His beloved Cessna plane and cherished Steerman held a special place in his heart, even though a mishap led to a broken back—twice! From daring skydives with parachute mishaps to exhilarating flights, James embraced life's ups and downs with courage and a hearty chuckle or an expletive curse!

Jim was a proud Navy veteran, staunch conservative and avid 2nd amendment supporter. James had a zest for life that was as strong as his collection of around 20 guns of all different calibers and models.

A true Renaissance man, James graduated with a BA in business in the '70s and later earned a Masters in International Diplomacy from Norwich University while navigating the open roads as an over-the-road trucker.

In his later years, James found serenity on the open seas, living on a sailboat and cruising the picturesque waters of Florida and the Keys.

Settling in Tallahassee, he found joy in refurbishing and flipping houses, always busy with his dear cousin John, affectionately known as "Bunky."

James is survived by his loving children—daughter Kelly, sons James and Mike, and grandsons Ross, Chad, and Kyle. While he may have set sail on his final voyage, the memories of his charisma, humor, and unwavering spirit will forever linger in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Fair winds and following seas, James. Your legacy lives on in the smiles you brought and the adventures you shared.
