Mary Louise Moore

Mary Louise Moore, age 100, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026 surrounded by family and friends. Mary was born at home in Barry Illinois and graduated from Pittsfield High School. After graduation, Mary moved to Rock Island, Illinois to work at the Armory. She continued to support the war effort as a clerk typist for the Army Air Forces war department supporting the Pacific Overseas Command in California. In 1945, Mary made Florida her permanent home and began a long and successful career with Walgeens. Starting as a cashier and advancing to a corporate training, which allowed her to travel the States. After 52 years with Walgreens, Mary retired but continued to serve by volunteering at the Orlando Police Department in their CopShop, accumulating over 800+ hours a year.

Mary lived a full and remarkable life making friends and memories throughout her life. She recently celebrated her 100th birthday with a celebration attended by over 80 people, some traveling from far distances, a testament of a life that touched so many. Mary will be remembered for her dedication, her loyalty, her friendship, her generosity, and her lemon pies and fruit cakes.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents Laren and Mabel Harshman, sister, Helen, and brothers Howard, Loren, Harold, Wayne, and Dale. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, as well as very special friends.

A memorial luncheon will be held later in the summer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Russell Home for Atypical Children in Orlando Florida.
