Mk Schrago

Maria Katherine Schrago was born in Cheboksaru City, Chuvashia Republic, Russia on October 8, 2003. Mk was a perfect addition and true blessing to our family. In the last few years 'he' came into his own and was known as Mk. When Mk was adopted on July 8, 2004 at 9 months of age, Mk was a cute, strawberry blond, blue-eyed baby with such energy and spunk, endearing traits that carried through Mk’s life. When Mk was around family and friends one would quickly know he was funny, sensitive and caring. Mk was fiercely independent and had a great sense of self. There was never a concern about Mk meeting people due to his magnetic personality which was complimented by an infectious smile. Mk loved to dance and often showed off talents at home or in the middle of a circle with peers. Mk was a well respected and fearless soccer goalkeeper on multiple club and school teams. Those ten or so soccer years were the best years for Mk as the last three were incredibly difficult. While Mk struggled for three years, Mk persevered to graduate from Edgewater High School in 2022 with honors and a STEM magnet focus. Mk was very smart so academics were easy for Mk; it was refreshing to witness straight As (maybe a B) each year. Mk was self motivated to get a job and often worked part and full-time at a smoothie cafe in College Park. The managers at smoothie place loved Mk’s work ethic and allowed Mk to return multiple times after being on hiatus/out of town: Mk's last role there was shift lead. Mk's excellent grades, volunteer hours and ACT scores allowed for acceptance to all colleges that Mk applied to. Mk attended one semester at UCF and planned to get a mechanical engineering degree. Prior to college, Mk logged numerous volunteer hours at Second Harvest Food Bank and we would ask that donations be made in Mk's honor to SHFB, 411 Mercy Dr., Orlando, FL 32805.

Mk was very special and loved. Mk is survived by Jason Schrago (father), Lynn Schrago (mother), Emma (sister), Norma (paternal grandma), Sallie (maternal mimi) and a host of family and friends

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022 at 11:30am at Carey Hand Colonial Funeral Home
