Robert "Bob" Lafayette Black passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones in Winter Park, Florida on October 5, 2026. He is survived by his adoring wife, Kathy Black, ten nieces and nephews, and countless great-nieces and nephews.
He was born on October 27, 1931 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Paul and Rose Black, and spent his early years in Monterrey, Tennessee, graduating from Monterrey High School in 1949. Upon graduation, Bob proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and subsequently attended Howard College in Marion, Alabama where he became a pharmacist. He was a member of the Alpha Chi chapter of Phi Delta Chi pharmaceutical fraternity. As a pharmacist in the Air Force, he eventually came to sunny central Florida, and in 1970, met his beloved wife Marsa with whom he spent 46 wonderful years. Bob was a man of many passions. He was an avid and accomplished golfer, with many of his rounds spent at his beloved Rio Pinar Golf Club. When not golfing, his Saturdays were spent bleeding orange, rooting for the Tennessee Volunteers. Bob was known for his kindness and appreciation of the simple things in life and was an avid member of the Winter Park community. His sharp wit and kind heart will be dearly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings; Mary, Peggy, Nancy, Paul Jr., and Teddy, and his wife, Marsa.
A graveside service in Bob's honor is scheduled for Saturday, October 10th at 11:30 am at Palm Cemetery, 1005 N. New York Ave, Winter Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the pharmaceutical fraternity Phi Delta Chi at phideltachi.org/donation-funds.
