Robert Leroy Brown

November 12, 1934 — March 22, 2026

Robert “Bob” Leroy Brown, 91, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026. He was born November 12, 1934, in Goodman, Wisconsin, alongside his twin brother, Raymond Brown.

Bob was raised on a dairy farm, where he developed a lifelong appreciation for hard work, resilience, and responsibility. At just 17, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was deployed to Korea in 1952, serving in combat with valor, courage, and honor.

After his time in the Marines, Bob continued his service in the United States Air Force as an aircraft and jet engine mechanic. Known for his precision and strong work ethic, he dedicated himself to his craft until his retirement in 1972.

Following his military career, Bob made his home in Orlando, Florida, where he spent 25 years working with Walt Disney World as a heating, plumbing, and kitchen equipment engineer. He was respected by colleagues for his skill, reliability, and dedication.

In retirement, Bob discovered a true passion in metal detecting—a pastime that combined his curiosity, patience, and love of the outdoors. Whether walking beaches, fields, or quiet corners of local parks, he found joy in the search as much as in the finds themselves. From coins and keepsakes to the occasional unexpected treasure, each discovery carried a story, and Bob delighted in sharing those stories with family and friends. Metal detecting was more than a hobby to him—it was a peaceful pursuit that kept him active, engaged, and connected to the simple pleasures of life.

Above all, Bob was a family man. He is survived by his sister, Cheryl Thom, his sons, Robert D. Brown and James E. Brown; his stepdaughters, Deena Taylor Clay and Charlene Taylor; 5 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Janet E. Brown; his twin brother, Raymond; his parents; and other beloved family members.

Bob will be remembered for his unwavering sense of duty, his steady strength, and his deep commitment to those he loved. His legacy of service, integrity, and perseverance will live on in the lives he touched.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, March 30, at Delaney Street Baptist Church in Orlando, followed by a graveside service with military honors at Glen Haven Memorial Park in Winter Park, Florida.

Forever remembered, deeply missed.
