Sadie Catherine (Underwood) Smith, passed away peacefully on February 12th, 2024 at the age of 87.  Sadie is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, John Wayne Smith Sr. of Longwood.

Sadie, a Baptist, was born December 4th, 1936 in Crossville, Tennessee to Alec and Nellie Underwood.  She attended Cherokee Junior High School, and graduated Class of 1955 from Boone High School in Orlando, where she was active in the D.C.T. Club.
In 1954, she married her high school sweetheart, John Wayne Smith, and they raised a family in the Altamonte Springs and Longwood areas of Seminole County.
Sadie, with her husband John, were active in the community and both served within the South Seminole Jaycees for many years. 
Together, they successfully owned and operated S & S cabinets, Inc. in Longwood Florida for almost three decades.

In retirement, Sadie and John enjoyed living between their home in Longwood, and their vacation mountain home in Franklin, N.C.  They traveled together extensively throughout the world, until John’s untimely death in 1994.
Sadie never remarried, but continued to enjoy her world travels in the company of friends and family.
Sadie always encouraged her children and grandchildren to pursue their life goals, and took an active role in promoting their pursuit of higher education.
She was a lifelong avid reader who loved novels and the literary classics, as well as staying informed on current events.
She was a caring and generous philanthropist, who loved her community and was passionate about family tradition.  

She is interred at Highland Memory Gardens, in Apopka, Florida beside her husband John.  A memorial gathering will be arranged for a future date.
