Saralee Bowser, age 86, formerly of Orlando, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, in Fern Park, Florida.
Born on December 9, 1939, in Knox, Pennsylvania, Sara was the daughter of the late Lloyd Harlen Bowser and Sadie (Toy) Bowser. She was the youngest of six children: Richard Bowser; Harold “Bud” Bowser; Geraldine Donahue; Eileen Schroth; and David Bowser (Nancy), all of whom preceded her in death except David.
As a child, Sara traveled with her parents from Knox to Orlando during the summers for horse races. During those visits, she met her second cousin, Bennie Mae, and the two quickly became lifelong friends. After graduating from high school, Sara moved permanently to Orlando.
Sara had a creative spirit from a young age. She enjoyed drawing and had a deep love for animals, especially horses and dogs. She owned a horse named Merrylegs, whom she often rode bareback.
She worked at The Hartford Insurance Company and later alongside her sister Eileen at the Central Florida Reception Center. For nearly 40 years, Sara and Eileen lived together and enjoyed collecting dolls, figurines, teddy bears, and dishes. She loved walking the neighborhood with her dog Maggie, often delivering treats and Christmas cookies.
Sara loved to travel, often accompanied by Bennie Mae and friends. Together, they took memorable road trips to national parks across the western United States and visited cities such as San Francisco. She also traveled internationally, including trips to Europe, Greece, and Scotland. Sara had a keen eye for photography and captured many beautiful moments on her journeys.
She and Bennie Mae frequently spent weekends with family at Sanibel Island, where she enjoyed fishing, taking long walks on the beach, and shelling. Sara collected countless shells, which she transformed into creative crafts.
Sara was known for her calm, gentle nature. She was even-tempered, quiet, and rarely angered. Always willing to lend a helping hand, she was deeply kind and dependable. She loved her naps, and could often be found peacefully sleeping in a quiet room after a big family meal.
