William “Bill” Perry
… husband, father, friend
Our beloved, Bill, died January 5, 2020. He will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery. Born 1930 in Alabama, Bill served with the U.S. Army for 29 years, retiring as a Colonel in 1975. He was awarded the following medals: Joint Service Commendation, Meritorious Service, Republic of Vietnam Campaign, Vietnam Service Medal, WW II Occupation Medal (Japan), and the Legion of Merit. During his military career (which included WWII and Vietnam), he was stationed with his family in Germany, Okinawa, Hawaii, and many other states. His service included postings in Vietnam and the Pentagon. After retiring from the military to Florida, he had a second career as a middle school teacher of English and mathematics.
Bill was preceded in death by his infant son, Timothy, and by his daughter, Cynthia. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lyla, and his son, Dan (Peggy) Perry, granddaughters Tammy McMahon and Elissa Perry, and great grandchildren: Sophia McMahon, Marcus Young, Maya Young, and Miles Young. May the good Lord bless and keep him as he makes his way to his heavenly home.
