Ines Rivera

October 15, 1934 — May 15, 2022

Inés Rivera, 87, of Orlando, FL passed away at home with her husband by her side on May 15, 2022. Inés was born on October 15,1934 in Purificacion, Tolima Colombia to Celestino Useche and Victoria Rodriguez, where she met the love of her life and husband Jose of 55 years. Theirs was a love story for the ages. After they began dating in Colombia, Jose moved to New York in search of the American dream. They continued a long-distance relationship over a 4-year period with love letters being their only form of communication. Soon after she arrived in America, they were married and started a family. Being an immigrant and not knowing much English, she found work in a textile factory for a few years. After raising her daughters, she decided to become a foster parent, raising several children over the course of 10 years and providing a loving home for children who needed it most. After living in NY for 34 years, she moved to Orlando with Jose to enjoy retirement. She was a devout Catholic and decades long parishioner of both Sacred Heart Church in Brooklyn, NY and Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Orlando and was very active in the Cursillo Movement. She lived her life in service to others and will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be remembered as a loving wife and mother, not only to her daughters, but to countless more for whom she was a motherly figure. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
She is survived by her husband, Jose Rivera, her children, Miriam Solis and husband Bobby and Maria Rivera and husband Jeremy, and her grandchildren Emily, Sofia, Jackson and Celeste.
