Orlando

James C. Dismuke passed away on May 14, 2022, at the age of 94. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mr. Dismuke at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. The Rev. Joseph L. Crumley will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 21, 2022, from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals, Tifton, GA.

He was born on August 29, 1927, in Cordele, Georgia to Jimmie Clinton Dismuke and Mary Azalee Harvey. He is survived by his second wife, Josephine Saez; his children, Linda Young (Terry), Mary Jayne Dallaportas (Robert) and Jimmy Dismuke (Kristin); his grandchildren, Logan Young (Yanira), Lawson Young and Amanda Brawner; his great granddaughter, Sienna Young; and his brother, John William Dismuke. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 55 years, Jacquelaine Bonner Dismuke.

Jim was a graduate of Georgia Military College and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, before embarking on a career with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. After marrying Jackie, they spent years relocating to offices all over the east coast, until he became the District Manager of the Central Florida office headquartered in Orlando. His superior managerial skills led to his district becoming one of the most prolific in the nation, with him being awarded the prestigious Tower Trophy.

He retired in 1986, moving to Waynesville, North Carolina where he and his brother developed acreage on Mount Lyn Lowry. There, he built a beautiful mountain home for his family overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains. In the late 90's, he moved to Lake Wales and later returned to Orlando. In his remaining years, he met and married Josie.

He was a member of the Orlando Country Club, where he enjoyed his lifelong love of the game of golf. It began at a young age being a caddy at a local country club in Jacksonville where he taught himself how to play while watching others. Some of his fondest memories were of golf trips with friends.

Even though he graduated from Chapel Hill, he adopted the University of Florida football team and became a loyal member of the Gator Nation. He attended many home and away games, including a SEC Championship and two National Championship games.

Dad loved good food, great times, his favorite cocktail and dear friends and family. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers at this time.

Local Arrangements entrusted to CAREY HAND COLONIAL FUNERAL HOME, 2811 Curry Ford Road, Orlando, FL 32806 407-898-2561.
